Rylan 10 Month Summary

Rylan 10 Months 1

I’m sure this past month has flown by for everyone, but seriously, where did 2012 go?! I’m still humming Christmas carols around the house! Somewhere in all this mayhem, Rylan made some huge leaps beyond the baby stage. Christmas was a lot of fun. We visited both mine and Brad’s family, so the boys had like 4 Christmases total. Can you say spoiled! Santa brought both boys trains, with Rylan’s being this larger Disney one with little characters in it. So far, I seem to like it way more than him. Maybe it was being around lots of family members over the holidays, or maybe it was just his time, but he’s seeming less and less like a baby everyday.

He’s become very interactive with people, and even likes to “play” with Brandon in his own little way. Nothing could melt my heart faster than seeing my two kiddos getting along. Brandon loves to climb in the crib with Rylan when we go to wake him up from his nap, where they proceed to shriek happily at each other is some kind of foreign brotherly language. Rylan’s favorite way of communicating is through clapping, which he does frequently, whenever something meets his approval. Puffs – clap. Smiles from Daddy – clap. Splash in Suki’s water bowl – clap. I really hope he starts spouting out words soon because I just can’t wait to hear what he has to say. He currently is stuck with Dada and Mama, and of course the shrieks that only Brandon seems to understand.

Rylan 10 Months 5

Rylan must have made a special request for his two front teeth for Christmas, because that is exactly what he got. And one on the bottom as well. Teething ain’t so fun, but I’m glad he finally popped out a few. He hasn’t been super excited about his bottle lately, but this could be due to the teething. That and the fact that he eats enough puffs to feed an army. He’s getting more and more interested in eating the same foods as the adults, and will definitely give you the stare down if he sees you eating something he wants. We are still in the trial and error stage as to what he can handle eating, but are adding more table foods everyday.

Rylan’s schedule is pretty much the same, although he did end up taking a good 2 hour morning nap most days while we were visiting family. All that activity wore the little guy out! Here’s a typical day for Rylan at 10 months:

  • 7:30 am – wake-up, get dressed and bottle (8 oz with 1 T rice cereal)
  • 7:45 – breakfast w/ Brandon (will eat from little feeder or finger foods)
  • 8:15 – Outside!
  • 9:30-11/11:30 – nap #1
  • 11 – “play” with Brandon
  • 11:30 – Independent Play (playpen or exersaucer) while Mom makes lunch
  • 11:45 – bottle (8 oz)
  • 12 – lunch (Solids)
  • 1:30-3:30/4 – nap #2
  • 4 – bottle (8 oz)

It was great seeing everyone this Christmas. The boys are growing leaps and bounds everytime we see them. Brandon is talking more and more and Rylan never misses out on the action.

We had a wonderful time with your visit..

    Love Rick & Terri xx

  2. Teeth? When did those pop out?! LOL! How great that he and Brandon have such a connection – surely the result of mom and dad encouraging and supervising such interaction. Great job you two!

    • Ha, I don’t know if it has much to do with us, but thanks anyways. :) And the teeth were not fun. Ends up he has four now!
