Hot Mama Summer Workout Wear

You know those women who show up to the gym dressed to the nines? Full on hair and make-up and outfits that look more appropriate on a runway than a treadmill? Yep, I am so not one of those. I look for function first and foremost from my workout clothes, and I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve worn make-up to the gym (probably leftover from a late night before).

But since having kids, my schedule has become significantly more packed, and sometimes it’s just easier to dress for a workout early and hope to squeeze it in at some point before dinner. This means that I’m probably going to be running errands, taking the kids to classes or the playground, and doing a number of other things that will require that I run into a least a handful of people I know. And I probably don’t want to look a hot mess.

Thank goodness so many fitness apparel lines realized many women have the same issue, and have come up with some amazing options. Here’s what I’m living in this summer:

Hot Mama Summer Workout Wear

1) Lululemon Practice Freely Tank
2) Saucony Women’s Ignite LT Shimmel
3) Nike Dri-Fit Touch Breeze Running Tank Top
4) Lululemon Breeze By Skirt
5) Saucony Ignite Split Short
6) Athleta Relay Skort

Do you hangout all day in workout clothes? What are some of your favorite brands to wear that are both functional and cute?

  1. Excellent picks! I must admit I hang out in my workout gear far more than most Bruxelloises given that they arrive and leave the gym in “real” clothes. I’m definitely in the minority leaving the house in anything workout-y. As of late, I’ve been living in the For Two Fitness maternity line (which I highly recommend!!), but normally, my go-to is Lululemon and/or Nike running shorts. If only summer would arrive here in Brissels and I could leave the house in shorts without freezing. Maybe soon?!

    • Umm, you are going to have to tell me how to pronounce “Bruxelloises” one of these days. :) I found finding cute, but actually functional maternity clothes really challenging. I usually ended up just buying larger sizes of the things I was already wearing. I feel like most of the stuff out there is more “lounge” appropriate than actual “I’m going to sweat” kind of stuff. Will have to check out that line! And I can’t believe it’s that cold over there, hope it warms up for you soon!

  2. Great pics! LOVE that top…and #6. For awhile I couldn’t justify spending so much on workout gear, but lately, like you mentioned, I feel like I live in it all day long. I try to throw it on right when I get out of bed, to push me to get it done at some point during the day, but I always end up running errands with it on too. I suppose if Im wearing it all day long, I could justify it better! 😉

    • I think we all deserve a few pieces of really cute, good quality workout wear. I know most of my stuff holds up well and I end up keeping it for years. And that skirt you should definitely get! It’s like the perfect length, not too long, but not so short that you’ll cause a playground scandal.

  3. I agree with you on maternity workout wear! it was all cotton comfy stuff! I needed stuff to sweat in! I got one perfect Reebok top, but never found another like it. I did get a really cute For Two Fitness top. It said “Training for Two.” really cute and got me a lot of compliments! I love Lululemon of course. It is tough to shell out a lot of money, but for some things it’s just worth it!

    • It is a lot to swallow to spend so much on clothes you are only going to wear for a few months. I tried to keep it in hand, and just rewash stuff a lot! And that “training for two” top sounds super cute, would have loved one of those the first few months when you look more fat than pregnant! :)

  4. Love Lululemon line! Need to try that tank
