About

Hi, I’m Ashley! I’m a NYC mom with type-A tendencies and a weakness for anything chocolate covered. My days start with coffee, end with wine, and are filled with the giggles, tears, and shenanigans that my two little boys create. Motherhood isn’t always greeting card perfect, but I’m passionate about living well and creating a smile-filled, beautiful life for my family.

People often say that being a mom is the hardest job out there. But what does that mean exactly? As moms we are often called upon to be the cook, maid, nurse, entertainment director, teacher, chauffeur, etc. Society expects us to look chic and fit, no matter how little sleep we’ve gotten or how hard we are working to lose the baby weight. Oh, and we most certainly need to do it all with a smile. Like being a mom is the easiest and most natural thing around. Forget geometry, where was the “how to be a supermom” class in school?!

The Mommy Games is all about tackling the little battles we, as mothers, face on a daily basis. Things like what to cook for dinner or how to find some time for yourself. Other mothers are a mom’s greatest resource, and I’m all for sharing what I love and what is working for our family.

Here’s a few places to start:

Recipes:
Tons of meal ideas your family will love, and will make you look like a rock star. Cooking for your family doesn’t have to be difficult nor does it have to be a sugar-free and tasteless experience. Getting wholesome and tasty meals on the table is something that every mom can do!

Running:
Exercise is such an important part of life, but is too often pushed to the side when hectic schedules, erratic sleep, and the everyday demands of raising a family get in the way. I hope that by sharing my journey, I can show you that fitting in a little time for yourself is not only possible, but necessary and definitely worth the effort.

Mommy:
All things mommy related and fabulous. Everything from baby products I love and what to buy your husband for Christmas, to summaries on my own children and how I structure their days at different ages.

And be sure to join me every Friday for Mommy Happy Hour, where I talk about what I’m reading, eating, and loving that week! There’s also a Pinterest Board full of everything me and my fabulous mommy friends are loving!

About Me:
I was born in Georgia, grew up in Florida, went to school in Mississippi, and eventually met my husband in NYC, where we’ve called home for the past 8 years. After working in finance, I became a SAHM to my two little boys (Brandon – 3 yrs & Rylan – 1 yr) and our toy-aussie, Suki. I can usually be found running through Central Park with a double stroller (or trying not to hit someone while maneuvering it through Whole Foods), reading the latest young adult series (guilty pleasure), dragging my kids to yet another play date so that I can gab with fellow moms, or pouring over a new cookbook and trying to answer the age old question, “what’s for dinner?” I have obsessive planning tendencies, a sweet tooth that would make a dentist cry, and a love for shoes & bags that borders on problematic (but don’t all women?).

Thanks so much for stopping by and please feel free to comment, I would love to hear from you! You can also email me at themommygames@gmail.com.

Back in my pre-mommy years, I blogged over at Culinary Wannabe. I will periodically be moving over some of my favorite recipes so that you can enjoy them here.
